City Honours Local Women

The City is celebrating women who have helped shape Thunder Bay by highlighting them in its Women’s History Month exhibit.

Heritage Researcher Laurie Abthorpe tells us the online exhibit features a number of notable profiles.

This year Sister Leila Greco, author Sheila Burnford, engineer Elsie MacGill, and the West Algoma Equal Suffrage Association are being inducted.

Abthorpe tells us highlighting great women in our community provides young women with role models.

“[The] perseverence, the vision, and the creativity of some of these women in our community can then inspire future generations to go out and chase after their dreams, and know that they can do great things as well.”
