2017 Could See $133 Tax Increase

You may be paying an extra $11 a month in taxes next year, if City Hall sticks with its tentatively-approved budget direction for 2017 and beyond.

Monday night, it directed Administration to search for $1.8 million in savings off next year’s financial document.

However, City Clerk John Hannam says approving this plan doesn’t mean it’s set in stone. The 4.4% tax levy increase included in the plan isn’t binding, and Council will make the final decision in the new year when it deliberates the budget.
