Today’s the big day for Christmas Cheer as Country 105 and 99.9 the Bay hold a 12-hour fundraiser.
We’re broadcasting live from the CLE, with Chair Joleene Kemp adding she’s grateful. “Without the 12-hours of Cheer, we would have a good chance of not making the money we need to purchase for the turkeys and all the fixings we supply for families in our gift boxes.”
Kemp notes they are supplying gift boxes to just as many families as in previous years and unfortunately the need isn’t going away. The Christmas Cheer spokesperson tells us the marathon allows people to tell everyone about how the charity has impacted their lives and reminds people to make their donation.
As of 6:00 p.m., the day-long event has brought in around $80, 627. That is double last year’s total.
The 12-Hours of Cheer broadcast will finish at six o’clock tonight.
Port Arthur Rotary presented a cheque to the Christmas Cheer Fund today in the amount of $1,170 as a result of their Rotary Carol Sing event on Sunday night. According to Port Arthur Rotary President Rod Morrison, “Port Arthur Rotary understands the importance of the Christmas Cheer Fund in Thunder Bay.
