Thunder Bay resident facing charges after assaulting police officer

A Thunder Bay resident is facing charges after assaulting a police officer and avoiding arrest.

On Thursday an officer with city police’s Break and Enter and Robbery Unit attempted to arrest a suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant outside a business on Red River Road.

The suspect resisted arrest and assaulted the officer before running.

The suspect was located and arrested shortly after attempting to evade arrest by jumping over fences and running across roadways.

A 30-year-old Thunder Bay resident is facing the following charges:

  • Assaulting a peace officer
  • Resisting a peace officer
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

The accused appeared in court on Friday and remains in custody with a future court date.
