Tedx returning to Lakehead University

Tedx is returning to Thunder Bay.

The event is running for the first time in six years in collaboration with the Lakehead University Student Union.

TEDx is an initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover ideas worth spreading.

The events are organized by people looking to uncover new ideas and to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities.

Thunder Bay’s event focuses on the theme of Connecting for Change.

It will feature keynote speeches artistic performances, hands-on workshops, and interactive networking sessions.

“At Lakehead University we teach people to embrace curiosity, explore new ideas, and think differently to fuel creativity, collaboration and bring positive change,” said Lakehead University, President and Vice-Chancellor, Gillian Siddall. “Fresh ideas are fundamental to making our region and our world more prosperous, more just, more innovative, and more resilient. Through TEDxLakeheadU, we continue to open the door and give students, faculty, staff, and community members the tools they need to spark change in the world.”

Tedx events are not controlled by TED, but event organizers agree to abide by their format, and are offered guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, event organizing and more.

The event is taking place on Saturday and is running from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lakehead University in The Outpost.
