A late start to the shipping season doesn’t appear to be having a major effect on the amount of cargo being shipped through the port.
The latest stats from the Port of Thunder Bay show that so far this year 1.6 million metric tons of cargo has been shipped.
That compares to 1.7 tons in 2013.
CEO Tim Heney attributes this to a surge of grain coming to the local elevators from the prairies.
