NDP Asks For Return Of Tree Planting

A push from Thunder Bay’s NDP MPP for the Ford government to bring back the 50-million tree planting program.

It supported private landowners planting trees, with Judith Monteith-Farrell noting it will impact both small businesses and the environment.

“Your decision to cancel the 50-million tree program will result in businesses losing money, and millions of tree seedlings going to waste.”

Infrastructure Minister Monte McNaughton notes 68-million trees are already planted annually by the forest sector.
