A marvel from the outside and inside.
Just days away from the official opening of The Salvation Army’s Journey To Life Centre on Cumberland Street North.
The 30,000 square foot building replaces the current building, which was actually first erected in the 1950’s and became property of the Salvation Army in 1971.
“There have been many people that have gone through that building,” notes Salvation Army’s Executive Director of the Journey To Life Centre Gary Ferguson. “There also have been many success stories in that building. Unfortunately that structure is dilapidated and has met it’s time. We’re thrilled to be moving into a new space and we really believe that our clients deserve a new space.”
The landscaping is partially complete with the plan to finish it in it’s entirety in the Spring. 
“We’re able to use some indigenous teachings within that particular chapel. The ventilation system has been designed so that we can actually [perform a smudging ceremony] in that area and it’ll recycle the air so that’s an area we’re really excited about,” says Ferguson.

The $2.5 million capital campaign is nearing completion with $670,000 left to raise. The call for donations continues to avoid a shortfall in funding the project.
Staff are set to move in starting on October 16th.
Going forward the old building is set to be demolished on October 21st with a parking lot being installed from October 26th-30th.
