The provincial government is planning to reach out to front-line workers and their unions about their salaries.
Treasury Board President Peter Bethlenfalvy says he wants to consult with them about future wage settlements.
Bethlenfalvy says the goal of future agreements is “modest, reasonable and sustainable.”
He says he’s going into the talks with an open mind, in good faith and no perceived targets or ideas in mind.
Bethlenfalvy notes public sector salaries now represent about half of all expenditures for the provincial government.
