Did you hear about the Montreal Canadians? Of course you did!!
The Habs advanced to the Stanley Cup Final….their first time since ‘93. This morning I received several calls / texts to our 99.9 The Bay studio for / and against the support of the Habs. Let me be honest: I’m a Habs fan. But, I don’t watch the full season of hockey, and if Montreal wasn’t in the playoffs…I probably wouldn’t watch.
So…what does that make me? A ‘bandwagon fan’? Does that make sense? I have Habs beer glasses at home, a Habs keychain. I even have a Habs ice bucket. That makes me a hardcore fan doesn’t it? LOL
Montreal set out to do what they needed to do: advance to the finals, and have the chance at taking home Lord Stanley.
Some of the calls / and texts said things like: “Habs suck, Leafs are the best”; “The Leafs should be in the finals, not Montreal”. OK…that’s fine. BUT, they’re not. The MONTREAL CANADIANS defeated Toronto, Winnipeg and Vegas. They deserve to be where they are.
Montreal is now into their NHL record 33rd final since the 1917 season. They’ve hoisted the Cup 24 times, and hope to make it 25. Regardless of how you feel….you have to have a bit of appreciation for what they’ve accomplished.
The STANLEY CUP FINALS start on Monday. I’ll say it again: “Go Habs”!!!
