Collision with moose claims one life

A collision with a moose has killed a motorist near the Pays Plat First Nation.

Officers from the Schreiber OPP responded to the accident just after midnight on Friday.

The driver from Scarborough was killed in the collision, while a passenger was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Highway 17 between Terrace Bay and Schreiber was closed for about six hours.

The OPP say they are continuing their investigation and anyone with information or video footage of the incident is asked to contact the Schreiber OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
