The city is approving just under $1.6-million worth of work on the waterfront art gallery project.
Councillors voted Monday night to award the contract for the development of the proposed site to Bruno’s Contracting.
It includes creating better access to the land where the gallery is set to be located, along with work on parking lots and extending Sleeping Giant Parkway.
City officials say once this portion of the project is finished, the rest of the work on the gallery can go ahead with fewer obstacles.
Half of the money for the contract is from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.
