The city’s transit transfer is now good for two hours.
Councillors went against administration’s wishes and instead voted to increase the amount of time bus transfers are valid from one hour to two.
Transit Manager Brad Loroff says this means a decrease in revenue, but many councillors argued potential fares could be gained to make up for bus users who would no longer have to purchase an additional fare.
Loroff says that’s not the intended purpose, adding, based on his information, two hour transfers will not improve ridership.
