BGC Looking To Expand Activities In Step 3

The Boys & Girls Club of Thunder Bay is anxious to expand the number of options for off-site activities in Step 3.

The facility was able to open up July 5 under Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen plan.

“Under Step 2 there’s not a lot of places that we can go, so we’re limiting our trips to hikes and visits to lakes and splash pads,” said Skirving. “Come Friday, we might be able to take them bowling or to the movie theatre, things like that where we typically couldn’t take a group of 25 kids.”

Leaders at the club are required to wear masks and googles. Kids need to wear masks inside and can have mask breaks outside when eating and when social distance requirements are met.

Parents need to send in COVID-19 screenings every day, and the kids aren’t allowed to mix with the other cohorts even if they are siblings.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
