August One Of The Hottest On Record

A hot and dry August, but it appears as though the warmer than normal temperatures will come to an end this week.

Environment Canada reports just 42 millimetres of rainfall, well below the average of 87 millimetres, but above the 16 millimetres that fell in July.

When it comes to how hot it got, “The mean temperature was 19.2 comparing to the normal of 16.6 so about two and a half degrees above average. Not the warmest August ever but probably within the top five in terms of the hottest August since the mid to late 1800’s,” explains Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Peter Kimbell.

With September starting on Wednesday, Kimbell expects the warmer than normal temperatures to cool down with it feeling more seasonable.
