October 22, 1947- October 23, 2026

Claude Fortin, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2026 at his home in Thunder Bay. Dad was born on October 22, 1947 in Hearst, Ontario to Germaine and Fernand Fortin. At an early age his family moved to Atikokan, where he made many childhood memories. His family later moved to Westfort. He spent the rest of his childhood on Brock Street in a small home that included their family of 10 and a big german shepard.

Dad spent his entire life in the mechanical field before buying and operating Techni-Cool Radiators with his son, Cory. Dad was never one to shy away from hard work, he came into the shop every morning until the day he died.

The most important thing to our Dad was his family. He was a proud father to his son Cory, daughter-in-law Myra, daughter Joelene, and son-in-law Jim. However, there was never a doubt Grampa’s greatest pride and joy came from his grandchildren: Jordan (Kaitlin), Jayden (Greg), Zachary (Shania), Kendra (Matthew), and his great-granddaughter, Braylee.

Grampa was always present in his grandchildren’s lives. He spent numerous hours and put on thousands of miles traveling to support his grandchildren. He truly was the ultimate hockey Grampa.

Grampa once wrote a note about the time we spent together, “I will cherish these memories all the days of my life. Love, Grampa. XOXOXOXO”.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
