1958 – 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. John Peter Martin, aged 68, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, who passed away peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by his family, on September 5, 2026.

Peter was born in February 1958 in Whitedog Falls, Ontario. He was educated in Ear Falls and Thunder Bay. Peter was proud of his 32-year career with Hydro One, beginning in Ear Falls, followed by Cameron Falls and Thunder Bay, and ultimately Barrie, where he retired before returning home to Thunder Bay.

Peter had a deep interest in family history and was the family genealogist, a passion he inherited from his mother. He devoted many hours to researching his family roots and preserving the history and stories of those who came before him. A skilled tradesman and carpenter, Peter took great pride in his craftsmanship. He completed many renovations on his homes and enjoyed creating woodworking projects for himself and his family.

Worshipful Brother Martin was a Past Master of Lakehead Lodge No. 709, G.R.C., serving as Master in 2001 and 2002.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, Angus and Peggy.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Lynn; his children, Taina and John (Stephanie); his stepchildren, Julie (Chris), Sarah (Matthew), and Mitchell (Kelsea); his grandchildren, Alexis, Holly, and Maiya; and his siblings, Marie, Innes (Joan), and Jane (David), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Peter’s wishes, no service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date.

Peter will be deeply missed by his family

and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though he is no longer by their side,

his memory will live on in the people he loved.
