It’s with heavy hearts, the family announces the unexpected passing of Donna Gail Wright at age 72. Donna will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, kindness, and the generous love she shared with everyone around her.
Christmas was her favourite holiday, and she had a special way of making the season meaningful and memorable for her family. She was a fabulous cook, and her incredible crafting abilities reflected her imagination, patience, and care. Whether she was creating something by hand, preparing a meal, or decorating for the holidays, she poured love into everything she did.
She deeply loved her husband and fishing partner, Ken, and was so proud of her children, John and Amanda. Her 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with each of them. She also looked forward to Sunday visits with her beloved fur grandbaby, Ariel.
Family meant everything to her. She cherished “Sissy Wednesday” with her big sister, Debi, and loved shopping and going for lunch with her sisters-in-law, Gail and Louise. These simple traditions like hosting all holiday dinners brought her great happiness and became treasured memories for those who loved her.
She grew up in Bolton and moved to Thunder Bay in the late 1970s. She began her career as a health care aide at Central Park Lodge, where she met her lifelong BFF, Sharon. She later upgraded her education and went on to run the recreation department there and continued to when Roseview Manor opened until her retirement in 2014. She loved her work, the residents she cared for, and the incredible staff she worked alongside over many years.
After retirement, she devoted more time to her crafting and to creating beautiful gardens year after year. Her backyard was her sanctuary, a place filled with peace, beauty, and the personal touches that reflected who she was.
Donna is survived by her loving husband Ken, her children John Miller (Tamara), Amanda Harris, her stepchildren Rick (Cheryl), Randy and Kathleen, her sister Debi (Dave), in-laws Gail, Louise, Neil (Nancy).
Predeceased by her parents Edythe and Ed and Harry, brothers Ronnie and Kippy, and aunt Judy, her mother and father-in-law Norine and Ronald, brothers-in-law Bill and Dennis.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, creativity, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to mums good friend Joanne and the ICU team.
