Humane Society Union Vote Being Reviewed

The results of a unionization vote for staff at the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society remains up in the air.

Tim Deelstra of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union explains there is a dispute over the outcome of the vote, and the issue will be presented to the Ontario Labour Relations Board at a meeting on July 4th.

He tells us there are some ballots from the vote which have been separated, and the board is being asked to make a ruling on whether they are valid.

The union official indicates there’s a dispute over which employees should belong to the bargaining unit.

The board hearing will take place in Thunder Bay.
