The Wabshkaa Animkii Benesii program in Thunder Bay will receive $10,000 from the Tbaytel for Good Community Fund for its after-school meal program.
59 organizations applied to the fund this year to receive a portion of the $30,000 in funding.
The winners were announced Friday at Sherbrooke School in Thunder Bay.
The other five organizations to receive money from the fund:
Schreiber Public School: $10,000 for its project to enhance access to fresh produce by operating a garden tower greenhouse.
St. Andrew’s Dew Drop Inn: $3,287.50 for hygiene bags
Fort Frances Community Garden: $2,238 to support the garden, which provides a vital green space, allowing residents to cultivate their own produce and access healthy, lower-cost food
Camp Quality: $2,238 will cover the admission for one child to attend the camp
The Undercover Project: $2,238 will support a program that focuses on the safe, efficient, and comfortable distribution of socks and underwear to families in need
