Fire on Leys Street damages home’s roof

A home on Leys Street suffered damage in an evening fire.

Crews were sent to the home on Monday around 6:15 p.m.

When they arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the roof.

Firefighters attacked the flames from inside and outside the home before searching the building.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the living room, and the roof.

The home’s residents safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Fire Rescue is reminding residents that working smoke detectors and a regularly practiced fire escape plan are essential to ensuring your family’s safety in the case of a fire at your home.
