Explosion leads to house fire on Crown Street

A fire on Crown Street has claimed a home.

Firefighters were sent to the area on Sunday around noon.

Several calls had been made to 911 reporting an explosion that had caused a large fire.

When crews got on the scene, the home had partially collapsed and was fully engulfed by flames.

Both of the neighbouring homes also caught fire, but they sustained little damage before firefighters put out the fire.

Three people were sent to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is scheduled to arrive to begin their investigation Monday afternoon.

Fire Rescue is reminding the public to ensure that someone qualified maintains their natural gas appliances.
