Annual fire fighters turkey dinner returns for 27th year

The annual Fire Fighters Association thanksgiving dinner will return for its 27th year.

Fire fighters and their families prepare and bring food to the dinner and serve it to lonely people in Thunder Bay.

The dinner is at the Salvation Army’s Journey to Life Centre at 545 Cumberland Street North on Sunday between noon and 2 p.m.

The Salvation Army says they appreciate what the firefighters do very much, according to a news release.

They say the higher cost of living and an increase in addiction issues means more people are struggling with poverty, homelessness and social isolation.

The Thunder Bay Professional Firefighters Association says that it’s important to give back to the community, according to the release.

And they want to give a dinner to people who might otherwise not have the opportunity.
