TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD!

Introducing a new feature on The Bay. We call it – “TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD”. Danny shares ‘good news stories’ / ‘feel good stories’…kind of like your ‘daily dose of optimism’. You can hear it weekdays at 6:35am / 9:15am / 1:15pm / 4:35pm.

Here’s one from TODAY:

This story was found on FB. It’s about a high school in Regina called Belfour Collegiate, and they have an annual dance where students invite ‘senior citizens’ from the community to the dance. Most of the seniors are from low-income housing units, and the dance gives them a chance to get out and not be shut-ins.

Transportation is taken care of, and the students ‘cooking class’ prepares and serves meals for the seniors. It’s been a tradition for 30 years now. It was started by an English teacher who first invited senior citizens to an evening dance. The dance is the main event – but leading up to it….the high school students put on a variety show for the senior citizens.

Amazing concept. Do you think this could work in our city? I THINK SO.
