Stanley Cup to return to Thunder Bay

The Stanley Cup will return to Thunder Bay.

Jamie Kompon, Assistant Coach of the Florida Panthers, will bring the cup home with a community event.

The public will have the chance to view and have their photo taken with the Stanley Cup on Wednesday, September 11 from 3 – 5 pm at Port Arthur Stadium.

This event, hosted by the City of Thunder Bay is open to all, and free to attend.

Doors will open at 2:30 pm for the event. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.

“It is such an honour to share this event with people in Thunder Bay, a community that had such an influence on me growing up,” said Kompon.

This is the third time Kompon has won the Stanley Cup.

The others were won with the Los Angeles Kings in 2011-2012, and with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2012-2013.

Donations will be accepted at the event for the Northern Cancer Fund.
