If you’re looking to build a new home, then there are opportunities for you.
The city of Thunder Bay has listed nine properties for sale.
“We know that lots like these are in high demand,” said Deanna Walker, Manager of Realty Services. “We are excited about the potential for these properties, and more being listed in the near future, to be purchased and developed quickly, adding much-needed housing options to our community.”
These properties have been designated as surplus and are being sold specifically to allow homes to be built on empty lots, increasing urban density.
“Freeing up these surplus lands is a crucial step in helping developers build more housing quickly,” said Mayor Ken Boshcoff. “This initiative gets us one step closer to meeting our target and addressing the diverse needs of our community. This is an exciting time for Thunder Bay!”
The properties are located throughout the city and present an opportunity for developers and builders to assist the growth of Thunder Bay’s housing market.
Thunder Bay has a housing goal aiming to build 1,691 units in the next three years. The designation and sale of surplus lands for housing development is a key component of the city’s Housing Accelerator Strategy.
The nine new properties bring the total of city land for sale up to 12.
