Spark Ignites Small Fire At Bombardier

Fortunately no injuries during an equipment fire at Bombardier.

Thunder Bay Fire Platoon Chief John Kaplanis tells us they were called to the plant Monday night around 10 o’clock.

“They had a plasma cutter that caught fire. The staff had extinguished the fire before we arrived,” says Kaplanis.

The fire chief adds due to the quick action of workers, the fire was quickly dealt with and operations resumed soon after.

The fire department says the cause appears to be a spark from the plasma cutter machine that fell onto some garbage underneath, igniting it.

At this point, there’s no damage estimate.
