Eco Depot Wants To Partner With City

A Thunder Bay-based garbage diversion company wants to work with the city on offering a provincially mandated curbside collection program for organic waste.

Eco Depot’s Erica Tropea tells us they would be able to offset some of the high costs associated with building a processing facility.

“There is a high capital cost to opening up a facility but that’s already been taken care of on our end, so there wouldn’t be a capital cost for the city.”

Council heard recently it could cost them millions to offer the program which is required to be in place by the province by 2025.

Eco Depot is hoping to work out a deal with the City of Thunder Bay when they have an idea of how they will implement the provincially mandated program.
