Toronto resident charged in Thunder Bay

A 22 year old Toronto resident has been charged in Thunder Bay for a number of firearm violations.

The Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team made the arrest on Tuesday.

The team is comprised of members from 20 police services including the OPP, Thunder Bay Police Service and Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.

The items seized include a handgun, eight rounds of ammunition, and more than one thousand grams of a cutting agent used for making illegal drugs.

He faces a total of seven charges.

They include:

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused is being held in custody.
