Paying Respects To Veterans During The Pandemic

A way to celebrate our veterans, virtually.

Tonight the Royal Canadian Legions Branch #5 (Port Arthur Branch) is holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Hilldale Lutheran Church.

Officials indicate the ceremony will be recorded and sent to retirement homes across the city.

Before the novel coronavirus pandemic hit, those who aren’t able to make either the Waverley Park or Fort William Gardens ceremonies would have the luxury of having a service brought to them on November 11th.

In attendance at this event:

  • Colour Party from Port Arthur Branch #5 Royal Canadian Legion
  • Padre Nancy Ringham
  • Bugler Deanna Ford
  • Piper Sal Piccolo
  • Colonel Dean Botcher CD
  • Comrade Roy Moore will recite In Flanders Fields
  • Sergeant Tanya Morin will respond to In Flanders Fields
  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
