No Active COVID-19 Cases Locally

There are no known active cases of COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s jurisdiction.

Medical Officer of Health, Janet DeMille says this is the first time they’ve had no cases since March.

“This is an important milestone that we have achieved. Having no known active cases indicates that the risk is very low,” DeMille says.

The health unit official says they have no indication of any ongoing spread of the virus at this time.

“This is the result of the sacrifices we have made since March. We should take comfort in what we have been able to achieve together. However, this doesn’t mean we are out of the woods just yet. Public health numbers reflect individuals who have had a positive test for the virus and many cases go undetected,” DeMille says.

The health unit official is asking the public to remain vigilant in the ongoing fight against the virus.
