A quick response by city police has led to the arrest of two people after they attempted to steal a donation bin from a business before running off with a bystander’s purse.
On Friday, officers were sent to a business on Arthur Street West north of the Thunder Bay Expressway after receiving reports of a robbery.
Two men were seen trying to steal a donation collection bin, and the business’s staff confronted them.
After failing to take the donation bins, the alleged thieves ran off with a bystander’s purse.
Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspects near the business.
As a result, a 31-year-old and a 29-year-old have both been charged with robbery and two counts of breach of probation.
Both of the accused remain in custody with future court dates.
