Miners and North Stars both advance in SIJHL playoffs

The second-round match ups in the SIJHL playoffs are all set.

Last night, the Thunder Bay North Stars blanked the Fort Frances Lakers 4-0 in game seven of their series and will play their cross-city rivals the Kam River Fighting Walleye.

That series will start on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the defending champion, Sioux Lookout Bombers have been eliminated after a 3-2 loss to the Red Lake Miners in overtime.

The Miners now play the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.

That series also begins Friday in Dryden.

The Ice Dogs are well-rested, having a first-round bye.
